There is so much information coming at us now on how to save energy in the home. The Energy Saving Trust have a great site…

There was a really interesting survey published in The Guardian a few days ago about trust and green issues. It’s a wake-up call to anyone who lives in a green ghetto and thinks that everybody gets what the problems are.
I’ve been trying the navy shower technique.
There’s a flaw. The trouble is, I’ve got a demand water heater.

I was just trying to use DEFRA’s new online carbon calculator. I’d answered most of the “Your Appliances” questions, trying really hard not to cheat about the number of devices I leave on standby…

I know people who love to drive. I can understand that. That sense of power and motion, of eating up the miles, of seeing new landscapes from behind glass while some track plays on the stereo…
The Green Guy wrote a nice piece for The Guardian last week on using “smart meters” to shave un-needed watts off your electricity use.
Here in relatively eco-conscious Brighton, the smart meter seems to have created a whole new fun-for-all-the-family type game…

Here????‚¬??„?s a story. An old and valued customer emailed me recently. She????‚¬??„?d read a note on my newsletter in which I recommended people check out the green energy companies Ecotricity and Good Energy ????‚¬??€? both of which Nigel????‚¬??„?s Eco Store has a good relationship with.
It being Easter, the topic is eggs.
This morning I boiled myself one using the low-energy technique I discovered on The Yellow House’s site.
To whit: Place egg in cold water. Bring pan to the boil. The moment it boils…
Hot on the heels of yesterday’s blog post comes this news. This eco development in Brighton’s New England Quarter by The One Planet Living organisation, which is backed by the World Wildlife fund, has just been given the planning go ahead. It has the highest eco specs of any new build in the UK. They’re trying to achieve a zero carbon strategy…
The Australians are making it illegal to use old-style light bulbs, the incandescent ones. By 2009 everyone is going to have to use eco bulbs like the ones we’re selling here.
Greenpeace reckons the UK could save 5.1 billion tonnes of CO2…
