Embercombe and the great outdoors

Embercombe

I’ve just go back from a great weekend at Embercombe, a beautiful fifty acre small-holding on the edge of Haldon forest near Exeter, where they run courses and events. I was there for a conference on climate change and met some interesting folk from various inspiring organisations: Carbon Coach, Transition Towns, Low Carbon Communities, Carbon Disclosure Project, TREC and more.

The highlights of the weekend though: staying in Mongolian style yurts with wood burning stoves inside, spending time outside, and sharing stories round the nightly fires.

I’d forgotten how much I need to spend time in the great outdoors. Lots of ideas came to me over the weekend, including the idea of running a Nigel’s Eco event there: more on this anon.
