Trumpet blowing…

News just in. I’m extremely chuffed to say Nigel’s Eco Store is officially one of Yahoo’s Finds of the Year 2007, winning the award for the “Shopping” category. After a crazily busy year, this is a great boost, especially considering who we were up against in that category. I’m still more flattered that the panel - who include some seriously heavyweight web pundits - singled us out for not only what we sell and how we sell it, but also the unique feel of our site.

This is what they had to say about Nigel’s Eco Store:

The Shopping category is also in its second year for the Finds of the Year competition. The award aims to recognise and reflect the popularity of online shopping. This was a close call as there are so many great, innovative shopping sites around these days, but Nigel’s Eco Store (www.nigelsecostore.com) came out on top. Nigel’s Eco Store is an online retailer of environmentally friendly products and gifts. They only stock products that they have touched, seen, tried or used. This site offers everything from eco staplers that don’t use staples, solar powered electric shavers to an eco kettle that saves energy and money.

Not only was the idea really unique and engaging, the judges also loved the layout of the site and felt it was distinctive in concept and differed from other shopping sites. In fact, this was one of the favourite sites overall fitting perfectly with a shopping site’s goal and society’s ecological outlook.

I’ll be insufferable for weeks now, of course…
