Climate change

Wednesday, July 11th, 2007 by Nigel

Hottest April for 140 years.

Arctic melts faster than forecast.

Wettest June since records began.

And still 56% of the population believe that science is still broadly divided about the statement that human-made climate change is happening right now. True, a small minority who still question the consensus on climate change are given a disproportionate amount of media time, but the overwhelming scientific consensus is that something bad is happening as we twiddle our thumbs, and we better start doing something about it. So why do so many people find it so hard to believe?

The photo of recent flooding at the Bretano at Kingswood shopping complex in Hull is taken by cactusmelba who comments, “It kinda looks a LOT better with the lake, as opposed to being full of cars…”
