At Festival time, Brighton is known for its Open Houses, selling art. Some of it’s great. Some of it’s… ah… interesting. Mostly everyone goes around to check out their neighbour’s kitchen extensions and tut at the wallpaper. This is a new twist from the Open Houses. Cleland and Sharada Laidlay actually want you to look at their place. They are using the festival as an excuse to show people round their home.

It’s an eco house. Over the last four years the Laidlays reckon they’ve cut their power consumption by about 60% by using solar water heating, insulation, and by simply being more careful. You can book appointments to visit the house over the weekend here.
