Eco village inspiration

I’m just back from from visiting a walking buddy who lives at Findhorn - the spiritual education centre that first grew up near Inverness in the 1960s. It’s been three years since I’ve been there. The eco-village has expanded. They certainly take climate change seriously. By the grass-roofed houses, and the greenhouses which contain their own biological water-purification system, there are four huge new wind turbines. The newer houses there have breathable walls, triple-glazing, under floor heating and don’t consume much energy even in the winter. Quite inspiring.
I also caught a glimpse of how the Findhorn community connects with the land, at a blessing ceremony for a new singing hall to be built in a wooded dell just on the edge of the village. It was quite moving.
