The solar powered rope light kit comes with a waterproof solar panel and battery box.

Rope length: 2.5m.

Normal non-solar powered rope lights left on for 10 hours a day for 12 days produce enough carbon dioxide to inflate 12 balloons, so choose a more eco friendly solar powered solution, and turn the other ones off when no one's in the house.

Do they work in the winter?
These solar lights are made in Germany (so are good quality), and designed for the British climate. However, as with all solar products, they do depend on getting good light to charge up - in winter the sun is lower in the sky, so as with all solar lights, they won't last as long as in the summer. With clear bright winter days, these lights will work and last for about 2.5 hours at night. The solar panel needs to be postitioned so it is not shadowed, and should ideally be south facing. In winter, if there's a run of bad weather, or it's overcast for a few days, you may not get any light out of them - they need a clear bright day to charge.
There is no precharge period, and no light settings. It does mean that if you get them during a period of bad weather it might be several days before the lights come on for the first time.

In spring, summer and autumn they'll work really well and you'll get hours and hours out of them then.
