Solar Powered Christmas Rope Light

These solar powered rope lights are a great choice for outdoor eco Christmas decorations. They are designed especially to work with the British climate and can be put up anywhere outside. They come with either 40 red or 40 yellow lights.

When fully charged, your solar powered lights will sparkle for up to 3 days without the need for more sunlight - so you could even bring them indoors.

The solar powered rope light kit comes with a waterproof solar panel and battery box

Rope length: 2.5m.

Normal non-solar powered Christmas tree lights left on for 10 hours a day over the 12 days of Christmas will produce enough carbon dioxide to inflate 12 balloons, so choose a more eco friendly solar powered solution, and turn the other ones off when no one's in the house.

Do they work in the winter?

  • These solar lights are made in Germany (so are good quality), and designed for the British climate.
  • However, as with all solar products, they do depend on getting good light to charge up - in winter the sun is lower in the sky, so as with all solar lights, they won't last as long as in the summer.
  • With clear bright winter days, these lights will work and last for about 2.5 hours at night.
  • The solar panel needs to be positioned so it is not shadowed, and should ideally be south facing.
  • In winter, if there's a run of bad weather, or it's overcast for a few days, you may not get any light out of them - they need a clear bright day to charge.
  • Because they can't be switched off except by exposure to daylight, each evening's performance will depend on that day's weather.
  • There is no precharge period, and no light settings. It does mean that if you get them during a period of particularly bad weather it might be several days before the lights come on for the first time.
  • In spring, summer and autumn they'll work really well and you'll get hours and hours out of them then.
