Ash trees are spreading and deciduous, with leaves which are divided into 9-13 leaflets giving the ash a feathery outline in summer, and a yellow colour in autumn.

Ash Trees are renowned in British folklore for their protective and healing properties, particularly in child health. It is even said that newborn babies were given a spoonful of Ash tree sap to give them a healthy start in life. The Celts thought the Ash to be sacred and it was strongly linked to positive enchantment.
